About CCI

Part of every church leader’s vision is to see growth. They will endeavour to “grow” the church under their care according to biblical guidelines in the most effective and efficient way. When the term “growth” is used, it is referring to both quality and quantity. Ephesians 4:16 makes it quite clear that the church the Lord delights to build through His people is one that is characterised by health and growth and full of love. Furthermore, Spirit-driven pastors diligently look for creative ways to bolster the growth of their churches through the collective ministry and missionary efforts of their paid staff and congregational teams of volunteer ministers.

In August 2000, at Maadi Community Church, Cairo, the Lord began to unveil a church plan to reach this vision of growth, which has been forgotten where more traditional views of building the church are presently used. This church growth plan is revolutionary and centers around small groups (also called cell groups or Life groups among many other names). In order to implement the plan however, a training program was established and an on-going small group development program, involving all believers in the church, and the installation of a biblical structure that would support and safeguard the growth of the church through expanding networks of Spirit-filled small groups, was commissioned.

As this plan was implemented at Maadi Community Church we saw amazing results. In just eight years, MCC grew in health, strength and size from 400 to 4,000 members, worshipping and fellowshipping in 413 small groups, and resulted in the formation of five daughter churches. More noteworthy, 1,600 new believers came to Christ through the small groups community!

When, after 8 years of service at MCC, Beryl and I felt called to return to Australia, our experiences in Cairo led us to set up a church development organisation that could support churches of all denominations, as they introduced small groups into their church ministry – and so Cells-church Consultants International was born in February, 2008!
