Bill and Nick connected at Maadi Community Church in Cairo; first when Nick came to know Christ in 2004 but moreso when Nick began working at MCC a year later.

As a new believer, Nick and his wife Jane quickly hooked into one of MCC’s cell groups which became a ‘cornerstone’ group of relationships that was tested severely when, in 2007, Nick and his family faced a tremendous crisis which challenged the faith not only of their whole family but also that of everyone in their church who knew them.

Nick and Jane currently live in Dubai (UAE) and attend Christ Church Jebel Ali Church.  They have been married since 1981 (they have actually been ‘going out’ together since they were 14 and 12 respectively!) and have three grown up children; Ben who’s married to Cassie (and they have a son called Joshua too) who live in Melbourne, Australia; Toby who is a Graphic Designer; and Ashleigh who working in a stables in the UK.

Nick is very much a ‘web evangelist’ and believes that churches should – if they feel it appropriate – put themselves out on the internet so that they can be found and share their ministry with their local communities and the rest of the world.  So he has set up a small e-ministry that helps churches who are ‘financially challenged’ by designing their websites for them and guiding them in developing content and other ‘techie’ stuff!  You can find out more on his website here.  Nick says:

At a time when I had abandoned my faith, my family and my church, it was the strength, love and prayers of my small group that enabled us to get through what was the darkest time of my life – in every sense.  Not only were all (and I really mean all) of my family’s needs met by our group members for about three months but also subsequently, I was mentored, supported, encouraged and helped through a lengthy church discipline process by members of my small group. I praise God each day for enabling us to ‘connect’ so deeply with that group, through MCC’s small groups ministry, and the profound impact that they have had on my life and the lives of all my family.

It was a huge privilege for Bill & Beryl to invite me to work with them on setting up the CCI website and I have been so incredibly blessed by all the opportunities and challenges that have come along since then.  I can’t describe what Bill’s friendship and true brotherly love has meant to me, particularly over the past three years – and I regularly thank God that He is continuing to deepen and expand our relationship beyond what we could have possibly imagined – as well as helping each of us to keep growing in His love as well as the new skills He has asked us to learn and make use of.

I am truly excited, encouraged and regularly amazed at how the Lord is using and growing the CCI ministry and I’m looking forward – expectantly – to what will happen in the future!

You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you. (Psalm 86:5)
