Bill blogging for Joel Comiskey

This week I was very kindly invited to write an article for my good friend Joel Comiskey’s great blog (joelcomiskeygroup.com) while one of his team members is away.

Traditional-thinking and Cells don’t mix!

While traditional-thinking works nicely in a ministry-based church context, in a cells-based church setting it simply doesn’t work, believe me! Trying to convince traditional-thinkers that cells is the best way to grow a church (and the Kingdom of God) is like trying to convert Goliath to Judaism.

Thanks Joel for this great opportunity!

  1. Great article, Bill. I agree, it takes a different mind set for cell groups to be successful in the ministry based church. It’s a whole turnaround in the thought process, and that’s not easy to do. Perhaps the best way of doing this is bringing cells into new church plants. That way they are brought into the new model from day one.

That’s the message I’m getting in my engagement with ministry-based traditional churches. I am now setting my sights on pure small/cell group church plants. There are some exciting plans presently in the pipeline. Will keep you posted. Thank you for your comment.
