Just a photo update from our fantastic visit to Warsaw in Poland.

Training Starts in Warsaw

Saturday was launch-day for our small groups development training in Warsaw with the first of three training groups (Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday). I was quite stressed throughout the whole double-session experience. I’m someone who prefers to know in advance what to expect so I can prepare well. However, this was not going to be the case. I had to leave a lot more of the usual unknown with the Lord. I had to share the facilitation of training with two others … through a translator; at an unfamiliar venue; with strangers.

However, the comforting assurance of Isaiah 42:16 kept cycling through my mind … “I will lead blind Israel down a new path, guiding them along an unfamiliar way. I will make the darkness bright before them and smooth out the road ahead of them. Yes, I will indeed do these things; I will not forsake them” (NLT).

The small groups director (Iza) and her assistants, Martin and Agata, spent some time with me last night in discussion and preparation for the commencement of training today. They are such right-people for the development of small groups with their church. We put together a game plan and prayed earnestly, asking the Lord to receive our best and make it happen according to His will.

What was the result? Although I had weathered some stress, the outcome was great! Everyone seemed to have enjoyed the experience. One couple travelled more than 100 kms (1 ½ hrs) to share in the training, and one other couple decided to change their travel plans in order to take part in next  week’s training. Iza and Martin did a great job in grasping the training strategy and in the facilitation of their parts.

I hope the photos in this post will help you to “see” and appreciate a little of today’s experience.

Celebration at Christian Fellowship North in Warsaw

Dear Friends

Yesterday (25 September), Beryl and I experienced, a rich time of worship and fellowship with the Christian Fellowship (North), a church family of 500 members, in Warsaw. Not being able to understand the Polish language did not inhibit us from experiencing the amazing presence, power, and pleasure of the Holy Spirit at work in His people. An elder of the church sat behind us and quietly translated the message that was presented by Pastor Krzysztof Zareba, a humble man of God. Krzy preached with simplicity, passion and power.

Pastor Krzy invited us to lunch with him and his wife, Mariola, at a nearby Nepalese restaurant after the service (the owner of this restaurant has a brother who manages a Nepalese restaurant [Café Kathmandu] at Broadbeach, 15 minutes from where we live at the Gold Coast!). At the end of the meal, Krzy asked if I’d be willing to preach next Sunday, at both AM services. So, this boy is now chained at a desk in our bedroom, working on a message. (Your prayers would be appreciated.)

Tonight (26 September), Iza, Martin, and I will team up to facilitate training with Monday’s group (about 10 people). And, tomorrow (daytime), Iza, Agata and I will facilitate training with Tuesday’s group (10 people). The pace is slowly stepping-up. Iza and Martin’s phones have been busy with trainees from last Saturday’s group calling to express appreciation for the training they received, and new trainees were signed up last night, for today’s and tomorrow’s group – every training spot has been taken up!

Thank you for your encouraging support to us, and to the Lord’s work in Poland, and beyond.

Update from our Nigeria trip

During our visit to Nigeria we had the opportunity to see what Pastor Elijah’s wife Blessing was doing through a wonderful ministry to children in one of the most needy areas of Lagos.  Their street children’s ministry has given birth to children’s small groups – which is amazing!!!

When Nick and I visited them we had a great time and it is clear that this ministry is having a great impact not only on the children themselves, but also their parents and the local community.  When we were leaving, a little boy came up to us and asked “can you send us some drums” – which was kind of heart breaking as we didn’t have any funds with us and CCI is not a fundraising organisation.  However, the point of this post is to share that God has provided for these kids – and they now have a great set of drums to use for their worship as well as some new benches so they don’t have to sit on the ground or on anything else that they can find!  These wonderful gifts were paid for from a donation made to Dominion Impact Church by Christ Church Jebel Ali in Dubai – and we just want to express our thanks to God and to Pastor Steve Wright in Dubai for making this gift possible.

Thank you LORD!

Please prayerfully consider making a donation to support Pastor Elijah ministry in Nigeria. Your gifts for this ministry go towards community outreach groups, reaching out to women, orphans, the unemployed and illiterate and to support small groups training courses for in-church leaders and other churches in the community. You can do this right now simply by clicking on the PayPal button below.

CCI takes no fees or charges from your donation. The amount you send, less only what PayPal charges us, will be sent to Pastor Elijah through his parent church, Dominion Impact Church.
