Fredrick Omoh-John comes from Nigeria but has lived in Cairo (Egypt) since 2002, which is where he met Bill – at Maadi Community Church. After joining a cell (small) group and then undertaking the Cell Group Pastor training at MCC, Fredrick very quickly progressed to becoming a passionate advocate of small groups, as well as an accomplished trainer and coach – he eventually became the Director of the African Cell Groups Ministry at MCC.
Nicknamed ‘Fireball Fredrick’ by Bill (because of his contagious passion and enthusiasm – even for the most challenging assignment) Fredrick also has a passion for working with the daughter churches that were born out of MCC‘s refugee development programme that served predominantly the Sudanese and African refugees. In particular Fredrick has been incresing involved in ministry, reaching out to the children of these very disadvantaged communities in and around Maadi, forming his own ministry “Destiny Kids International“. Fredrick married his wonderful wife, Sarah, in 2009. Fredrick writes…

“Our God is a good and a faithful Father. I can remember when I came to Egypt, in 2002 – my plan was to go to Europe for studies and work, to help my family. However, God’s plan for my life was different. The Bible says, “For man proposes, but God disposes; neither is the way of man in his own hands” (Proverbs 16: 9). Indeed the Word of God is true and will always remain true.
My visa expired and I didn’t know what to do. The second week of April, 2003, I made a commitment before the Lord that if I went to church I would serve Him in any department of the church. On that faithful day I was taken to Maadi Community Church. I joined the kids ministry as a volunteer, and served faithfully for some time.
You see, God makes a way where there seems to be no way. During the time I was in Giza, staying in my friend’s house, I had only 30 Egyptian Pounds. I made a promise to God that I would not spend this money on anything except my transportation to church by the Metro, and also to transport my two brothers.
In no time, the 30 Egyptian Pounds was almost gone. So I asked the Lord to provide for my financial need, for transportation. What happened? God didn’t just provide the money for us but instead we were invited to live in an apartment close to the church. I asked for transportation money, and the Lord gave us an apartment instead! With this provision, we didn’t need any money for transportation. I could hardly believe the amazing provision of God. I was so happy, and I said to myself, “Indeed, Lord, You are wonderful”.
Not long after this, I met a friend at MCC who introduced me to the cell groups’ ministry. He also introduced me to a pastor by name of Wale Balogun. The Lord used Wale to mentor me and helped me to discover my spiritual gift. After this, I started leading an adult cell group, and a children’s group (Destiny Kids).
God has been so good to me. I came with my plan but He led me according to His plan. I am happily married to my lovely wife, Sarah, and we have two beuatiful children. May the name of the Lord be praised.
My vision is to take the message of the Good News of our Lord, Jesus Christ, everywhere in the world. Presently I am ministering to African children (Destiny Kids International) in Cairo.”
