The benefits
Testimony to the power and value of small groups ministry is widely available on the internet. But on a personal level I have been blessed to witness God working in and through the implementation of CCIs Small Groups Church Plan in Egypt, Cyprus, Nigeria, Finland, Poland, Romania, Canada, the UK, the USA and Australia. In every case, from the time that this plan was implemented, church members became increasingly inspired, equipped and engaged in church life at deeper levels and, as a result, willingly reached out to their unchurched friends in practical ways with the love of Christ.
In all of these churches, through expanding networks of small groups (through friendship relationships), the Good News of Jesus Christ travelled freely and widely and drew people to Christ. Large numbers of new believers were incorporated into the life of these churches and were helped to grow in their faith and experienced the joy and fruitfulness, promised to us by the Lord.
As members of your church practice LIFE in their small groups the following growth signs should appear:
- Diminishing national, racial and cultural barriers.
- Spiritual gifts discovered and practiced.
- Increasing commitment to personal godliness.
- Members transforming into servant-hearted ministers.
- Members coming to understand their purpose in life and experiencing satisfaction and fulfilment.
- Practical needs being met.
- Increasing giving of time, talents and treasure to the work of God.
- Differences of gender, personality, age, culture, experiences and gifts being seen as complementary strengths in the life of their groups and church.
- Competition giving way to a spirit of co-operation and collaboration.
- Personal and church expenses being seen as Kingdom investments.
- Church unity developing - stengthening and safeguarding the church from divisive influences.
- Christian life of members becoming purposeful, exciting and vibrant.
- Attitude of duty giving way to attitude of devotion.
- Kingdom expansion given the highest priority in both personal and church activities.
- Many coming to Christ, being incorporated into the church, baptised, discipled and given leadership opportunity.
