Dave, Jess, Josiah and Fetus Quak

This is the first of many updates that friends and associates of CCI will be getting from our family. My wife Jess and I (Dave) have been married since 2003. We have one son named Josiah and he is 21 months old and is super cool! We have been called to Beachside Christian Church on the Gold Coast since 2005. We have learnt so many amazing things, and have been blessed to be influenced by many of God’s incredible leaders; but God is now calling us onward.

Over the next season, we will be winding down our responsibility at Beachside as we focus on a new church plant. So many things are still undecided and up in the air… the only things we are certain of is that God is calling us to plant a cell-based church designed to truly impact this world for the cause of Christ. We are going to spend as much time as necessary building a solid foundation that will not be shaken. We will be spending a long time with our initial core team building our understanding of how to best reach the lost, and disciple believers through multiplying life groups, before we consider conducting open church services.

We have had this vision on our hearts for years now, and as it draws closer, we are flooded with many emotions and feelings. I (Dave) have already been excited, scared, compelled, repelled, faith filled, eager, hesitant, lonely, swapped, encouraged, uplifted, rested, peaceful, joyful, anxious and hungry…. and its only 9:50 AM. I love God’s ironic timing. To make things messier, the same week we decided we are heading down this path of faith was the same week we found out that we were pregnant with baby number 2. If there is going to be change it may as well be all at once!!

I have never felt the need to draw closer to God more than during this phase. I feel like my namesake King David as he dwelt in the cave knowing he had a date with destiny, but not knowing how on earth it was going to happen. I know it IS going to happen; I just need to rest and have faith that God knows exactly how this will be.

At the moment, I feel audacious, ridiculous and even rude to speak this out; but I sincerely believe that God is going to use this plant to multiply to 1000 life groups in 10 years. It doesn’t seem like too much for God. All that is required is that we start 2 life groups properly, and they simply multiply yearly. God has achieved this all over the world. We have seen this is Cairo (Joukhadar), in Korea (Cho’s) and in many other places; we want this for Australia… Desperately!

When we look at the faith goals below, our faith is stirred that God is more than able to do this.

End 2011- 2 groups
End 2012- 4 groups
End 2013- 8 groups
End 2014- 16 groups
End 2015- 32 groups
End 2016- 64 groups
End 2017- 125 groups
End 2018- 250 groups
End 2019- 500 groups
End 2020- 1000 groups
Beyond 2010- ???????

I pray God exceeds our expectations, but this is a good starting point. Only our King knows what the future holds, but we will be in touch, and appreciating your prayer!

God Bless you all – we already feel welcomed into the CCI family and look forward to many years of victory together!

Love Dave, Jess, Josiah and Fetus Quak

Don’t know why we didn’t think of it before but we have added a statement of faith (simply The Apostles Creed, The Great Commandment and the Great Commission) under the ‘About CCI’ menu item – just so that there will be no doubts in anyone’s minds about what we believe! Read it here. Share:

After enjoying some degree of success through applying cells principles in churches in Lagos and Ibadan, Elijah was invited by [...]
